NUR 2016 - Advanced Concepts Medical-Surgical Nursing II

Builds on medical surgical nursing theory, mental health concepts, communication, collaboration, caring, and critical thinking/clinical judgment necessary for safe, person-centered nursing care to developmentally and culturally diverse, high acuity medical surgical adult patients. The course incorporates evidence-based practice, quality improvement, professional standards, and legal and ethical responsibilities of the professional nurse. The application of knowledge and skills occurs in the nursing skills laboratory and in a variety of clinical settings. Note: This course was previously listed as NUR 216.

Prerequisite(s): BIO 2116, NUR 2006, NUR 2011, NUR 2012, NUR 1006, NUR 1050, BIO 2104, BIO 2101, ENG 1021, PSY 2440, HPR 1010, BIO 2102, MAT 1120, NUR 1009, NUR 1012 with a grade of “C” or better
